Dr Rowan Hevesi

Senior Clinical Psychologist

Dr Rowan Hevesi is a Senior Clinical Psychologist with over ten years’ experience working across NHS psychology services with children, young people and adults.

Rowan specialises in autism, ADHD, trauma and attachment, with particular interest in how these experiences present within education, care and relational settings. Her work is grounded in creating thoughtful, psychologically informed spaces that support professionals to respond with greater clarity and confidence. Alongside this, she supports individuals and professionals with a wide range of general mental health concerns, including stress, anxiety, burnout, emotional regulation difficulties, and the psychological impact of physical health conditions.

Rowan works alongside professionals to deepen understanding of how autism, ADHD and the impact of trauma and care experience can present in interconnected ways.

Areas of Focus:

Rowan’s work within Journeys That Care particularly supports:

  • Understanding autism and ADHD in care-experienced children and young people

  • How neurodivergence may present in education and care settings

  • The intersection between neurodivergence and trauma

  • Practical, role-attuned responses for adults in schools, residential homes and fostering environments

  • Supporting teams to remain relational while maintaining clear structure and boundaries

  • Strengthening confidence and clarity in professional roles

Her input helps bridge the gap between clinical understanding and everyday practice.

Neurodivergence and Complex Care Journeys

In many settings, adults are supporting children and young people whose presentation sits across multiple domains. Differences in communication, regulation, sensory processing and executive functioning may be shaped by neurodivergence, by relational trauma, anxiety or by acombination of these. This can make it harder at times to feel confident about what is being seen and what support is most helpful. Rowan supports teams to:

  • Notice patterns across autism, ADHD, anxiety and trauma presentations

  • Develop a clearer understanding of where needs may overlap and where they may differ

  • Strengthen curiosity within formulation and day-to-day reflection

  • Recognise signs of stress, burnout and nervous system overload

  • Respond in ways that remain relational, structured and developmentally attuned

  • Hold neurodivergence and lived experience within a compassionate, practical framework

Training and Consultancy

Rowan delivers practical, education-aware training that translates psychological knowledge into clear, usable strategies for everyday settings. Her style is thoughtful, grounded and collaborative, supporting reflection alongside clear next steps for practice.

Typical training themes include:

  • Autism in the context of trauma and care experience

  • ADHD and regulation in education settings

  • Understanding behaviour through a neurodivergent lens

  • Supporting executive functioning in the classroom

  • Relational and role-attuned responses to neurodivergent need

  • Role clarity: what helps, what overwhelms, what sustains

  • Supporting staff with burnout and compassion fatigue

All sessions are tailored to the specific context of the organisation.

Supervision and Reflective Practice

Alongside training, Rowan offers psychologically informed supervision and reflective practice spaces, both individual and group. These sessions support professionals to slow down thinking, deepen understanding and strengthen relational responses in complex work. This is particularly valuable for:

  • Residential and fostering teams

  • Supervising social workers

  • SENCOs, SEMH and pastoral leads

  • Education and care professionals supporting neurodivergent young people

  • Teams wanting to reflect on their experiences

Clinical Approach

Rowan’s approach is integrative and evidence-based, drawing on:

  • Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Within training, supervision and consultancy, Rowan is known for translating psychological theory into practical, usable insight for education and care professionals.
